A bachelor of science degree in History exposes students to social, cultural, military, economic, political, and intellectual moments of the past to foster better understanding of today鈥檚 world. History majors and minors are trained beyond the fundamentals to view history through lenses of critical thinking and analysis.

The Humanities majors are all built on the same liberal arts core and History in particular offers students the ability to explore the vast field of history by selecting courses from a wide range of topics. In addition, History majors have plenty of elective credit hours to double-major, minor, or simply take classes that pique their curiosity.

History degree requirements

To graduate with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in History from 杏吧原创, you鈥檒l take 120 hours of coursework

General Education:

31 hours, including HIST 1111 – Survey of Civilization and HIST 2111 – American History

Electives:

41 hours

HIST 1112 Survey of Civilization II:

Survey major religious, political, economic, social, intellectual, and cultural developments in the western world from 1500 to the present. The emphasis is on 鈥渕odern鈥 Europe, but interactions and exchanges with other world empires are included.
