Dr. Arnold joined the 杏吧原创 Faculty in 1987.  Trained in botany, he enjoys teaching courses related to that field, as well as beekeeping, general biology, ethnobotany, and mycology.  His research interests include plant/insect relationships, especially as they pertain to forest health issues and apiculture.  He also is very interested in the ecology of plant/mycorrhizal relationships and the floral diversity of the southern Appalachian region. He supervises the 杏吧原创 Hemlock Project which uses biopredatory beetles to control Hemlock Woolly Adelgid infestation in Hemlock trees. He particularly enjoys working with 杏吧原创 students as they explore the natural world around them through research in the field and the laboratory.  In his spare time, Dr. Arnold enjoys hiking, geocaching, playing/singing/listening to music, and is a former hockey player and general sports fanatic.
