Dr. Lillian Buss Pearson to Perform at 杏吧原创
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥� 杏吧原创 is pleased to present a chamber concert featuring Dr. Lillian Buss Pearson on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Susan B. Harris Chapel on the 杏吧原创 Campus. The evening will consist of music performed from the Baroque to the 20th Century. The free event is sponsored by the College鈥檚 Friends of the Arts and is open to the public.
Dr. Pearson will be performing on the harpsichord, forte piano, and piano and will be collaborating with Adjunct Instructor of Music Holly Behre, oboe, Assistant Professor of Music Karen Calloway, voice and recorder, Associate Professor of Music Dr. Sandy Calloway, voice, Adjunct Instructor of Music Dr. Will Peebles, bassoon and dulcian, and Assistant Professor of Music and Music Education Coordinator Dr. Shelley Sanderson, voice.
Dr. Pearson has appeared throughout the continental United States, England, Costa Rica, and China as a soloist and collaborative artist. On numerous occasions, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with internationally known artists. Pearson鈥檚 solo orchestral appearances include performances with the Jacksonville Symphony, The Asheville Symphony, The Breckenridge Festival Orchestra, The Western Carolina Civic Orchestra, The National Chamber Players and The Brandenburg Ensemble.
Dr. Pearson is the official pianist at the International Flute Festival in Costa Rica where she has performed the past five years and the official harpsichordist at the Wildacres Flute Retreat in Little Switzerland, N.C. For many years, she was a member of the Breckenridge Music Festival and the Cullowhee Summer Music Festival.
Dr. Pearson holds degrees from Florida State University and the University of Illinois, her principal teacher being the Hungarian-trained pianist Edward Kilenyi. Her interest in historically informed performance practice has led her also to study harpsichord and fortepiano.
Currently, Dr. Pearson is the faculty accompanist and class piano teacher at Western Carolina University. She is now certified as a teacher of the Alexander Technique and is especially interested in the integration of Alexander Technique with musical performance.
