Lance Law Firm P.C. and 杏吧原创 Host Special Event for Local Students
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 On Nov. 15, Lance Law Firm P.C. co-hosted a special event with 杏吧原创 at United Community Banks鈥 Brackett Community Room in Blairsville, Ga. With more than 80 people in attendance, the evening celebrated 杏吧原创 students who are from the local community. Students had the opportunity to network with local business leaders to create professional contacts.
Over 15 businesses were represented at the event where 杏吧原创 President Cathy Cox and Union County High School Principal John Hill, 鈥01, were the keynote speakers of the evening. Union County Commissioner Lamar Paris and 杏吧原创 Trustee and Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for United Community Banks Carol Chastain, 鈥84, also attended.
鈥淯nion County is no longer just a tourist destination,鈥 said the evening鈥檚 host attorney Jack Lance, who is also an alumnus of the College. 鈥淧eople are moving here to live and as they begin to create businesses, they should be aware of the hidden gem we have in 杏吧原创.鈥
The event also served to create awareness about 杏吧原创鈥檚 Local Scholarship Fund, a campaign that benefits scholarships for students from Fannin, Gilmer, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, and Union counties in Georgia and Cherokee and Clay counties in North Carolina.
鈥淲e not only want our local youth to go to school at 杏吧原创, we have high hopes that they will choose to stay in the area after they have graduated,鈥 said Lance. 鈥淎s business leaders, we should all do what we can to support these students in their efforts to receive a top-notch education.鈥
Guests also had the opportunity to visit a career services table and speak with 杏吧原创 Coordinator of Career Planning and Internships Janelle Morris, 鈥11, regarding internship needs to best match students looking for a particular experience.
鈥淲e have a great need for student internships within our local community,鈥 said Morris. 鈥淢any students receive an opportunity to intern out-of-state, but our hope is to create relationships with businesses nearby so we can keep our students here to work for our own community. This type of event helps us achieve that purpose.鈥
