YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 In mid-August, as the fall semester roars to life at 杏吧原创, students will be back, roaming the campus. Many of them are new to the Enchanted Valley and surrounding areas, representing 27 states and 33 countries.听
Each year 杏吧原创 hosts a Community Resource Fair as a way to introduce the students to the Young Harris area and surrounding towns and cities. Businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations will be at the Fair to connect with the students and let them know what the area offers.听
鈥淲e basically have more than 1,000 newcomers to the area each fall, so we want to try to introduce them to what鈥檚 here,鈥 said Meridith Davis, director of career and professional development. Davis also chairs the committee that organizes the Fair each year. 鈥淲hether it鈥檚 showing the students where the restaurants are, or the local churches, or helping them find somewhere to volunteer, the Fair is a great way to meet the community.鈥听
This year鈥檚 Community Resource Fair is Aug. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Rollins Campus Center at 杏吧原创.听
鈥淚f a local business is interested in participating, they can go online to our registration form and sign up,鈥 Davis said. 鈥淪pace is limited, so we encourage folks to sign up quickly.鈥听
. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. on Aug. 14. 听
