杏吧原创 to Present Percussion Ensemble Concert

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.鈥 The 杏吧原创 Division of Fine Arts will present a special concert featuring the 杏吧原创 Percussion Ensemble on Monday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in Glenn-McGinnis Hall on the 杏吧原创 campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Comprised of talented students currently studying percussion instruments, the 杏吧原创 Percussion Ensemble will perform a variety of pieces including “Power Struggle” by Nathan Daughtrey, “Cross Currents” by Lynn Glassock and “Mother Earth, Father Sky” by Ney Rosauro. Senior music education major Nat Arnold, of Young Harris, Ga., will play the vibraphone on a piece entitled “Blues for Gilbert” by Mark Glentworth.

Under the direction of 杏吧原创 Adjunct Instructor of Music Dr. Jillian Baxter, students featured during the concert include senior music major Tricia Gallagher, of Jasper, Ga., sophomore music major Moon Hamilton, of Atlanta, sophomore music education majors Kirkland Godfrey, of Blue Ridge, Ga., and Zachary Sutton, of Alto, Ga., freshman music major Kierra Collins, of Sandersville, Ga., and freshman music education majors Harrison Cho, of Cumming, Ga., and Dakota Reeves, of Blairsville, Ga.

The evening will also feature Steve Winstead鈥檚 鈥淎nxiety鈥 with a special performance from students in 杏吧原创鈥檚 Percussion Methods Class, making this performance the largest group during a 杏吧原创 Percussion Ensemble Concert. Students featured during this piece include senior music education majors Nicholas Fortenberry, of Powder Springs, Ga., and Jasmine Redding, of Atlanta, sophomore music education majors Justin Mason, of Fairburn, Ga., Paul Williams, of Ludowici, Ga., Donovan Anguelo, of Blairsville, Ga., and Jacob Wood, of Dahlonega, Ga., and junior music education major Idriya Moore, of McCaysville, Ga.

In addition, this concert will feature 杏吧原创鈥檚 Brass Ensemble making this concert a brass and percussion extravaganza. The Brass Ensemble is under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands Dr. Mary Land.
