YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 杏吧原创 invites the community to attend fine arts events in October. All events will take place on the 杏吧原创 campus, which is located at 1 College St., Young Harris, Georgia 30582. Enjoy the following events:
– On Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m., the Campus Gate Art Gallery will host an opening reception for a new exhibit called 鈥淭he Edge of Magic鈥 by Cynthia Wagner and Darcy Jones. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, Nov. 8. Both the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.
Wagner鈥檚 images explore issues of gender role, inequality and the disappearance of individuals over time and space, as well as how women and Western culture look at and understand themselves and female role models through fiction, myth and the divine. Jones鈥攁 clay artist and a psychotherapist鈥攕ays her work is an expression of connection. It is born in the place between worlds: between known and unknown, seen and unseen, heart and mind, body and spirit.
– On Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m., the 杏吧原创 Concert Band will perform with the 杏吧原创 Community Band in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
– On Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., Mu Phi Epsilon will host a member recital in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public. This concert will showcase the talents of 杏吧原创 students involved in this co-educational, international, professional music fraternity that recognizes both scholarship and musicianship.
– On Sunday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., the Orpheus Choir will present a concert in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
– On Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., the Fall Choral Concert will be held in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. The 杏吧原创 Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will present a concert of choral masterworks featuring John Rutter鈥檚 triumphant 鈥淕loria,鈥 with organist Dr. Keith DeFoor and the 杏吧原创 Brass Ensemble. This event is free and open to the public.
– On Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m., Dr. Richard Knepp will host a faculty artist recital in the Susan B. Harris Chapel. The recital will feature a variety of music from the classical guitar repertoire. The program will also include guest performances from other members of the 杏吧原创 music faculty. This event is free and open to the public.
