YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 杏吧原创鈥檚 Campus Gate Art Gallery recently announced the winners of the 2021 Juried Student Art + Design Exhibition.
This highly anticipated annual exhibition showcases talent across many artistic mediums. Awards in nine categories are given to recognize significant achievements and advancements, be they technical virtuosity, conceptual insights or aesthetic bravery.
鈥淥ur fine art students and designers have been resilient. They have evolved and adapted daily using critical thinking and problem-solving skills along with a hopeful spirit to embrace the unusual circumstances of the pandemic,鈥 shares Director of the Campus Gate Art Gallery Becky Miller. 鈥淥ur students transitioned in the spring of 2020 to online learning often without access to working spaces, materials, the Mac lab, software, tools or campus resources. In the fall term, the students shifted from online to on-ground learning, facing similar situations. The outcome is seen in the breadth of excellent work on exhibit in the 2021 Juried Student Art + Design Exhibition. This exhibition is a testimony to our students鈥 ability to not only overcome these obstacles, but to consider and explore new possibilities!鈥
The first-place winners are as follows: Mark Williford for 鈥淔ish Brain,鈥 painting and Best of Show; Ruthann Smith for 鈥淔igure Drawings,鈥 drawing; Brianna Keith for 鈥淩eflections,鈥 sculpture; Hannah Cooper for 鈥淢uses,鈥 photography; Derika Harpool for 鈥淒ivine,鈥 printmaking; Sarah Faneuff for 鈥淒eciding Factor,鈥 graphic design; Summer Ribas for 鈥淎 Modern Villain,鈥 illustration; Abram Miller for 鈥淟ogo Wisp,鈥 video; Summer Ribas for 鈥淩eflection Introspection,鈥 mixed media.
