杏吧原创 Art Students Complete Successful Year
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 Students within the 杏吧原创 Department of Art wrapped up the 2016-2017 academic year with two special showings.
Ten 杏吧原创 students recently participated in the third annual Peach Belt Art Exhibition. Out of five Honorable Mention awards, junior art major Hannah Gravitt, of Social Circle, Ga.,聽monotype print, and sophomore art major Madison Rannals, of Sugar Hill, Ga.,聽pen and ink, were recognized.
鈥淛oining the art program at 杏吧原创 has had such a positive impact on my life,鈥 said Rannals. 鈥淚 really enjoy all of the classes, help from my professors, friendships with my classmates and the opportunities I have been given like participating in this exhibit.鈥
Other 杏吧原创 students who participated in the Peach Belt Art Exhibition included freshman art major Tyler Staten, of Warner Robins, Ga., recent outdoor leadership graduate Caitlyn Brownlee, of Buford, Ga., junior art majors Yolanda Evans, of East Point, Ga., Rae Dickerson, of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Shelby Lawrence, of Eatonton, Ga., and recent art graduates Katelyn Jett, of Carlton, Ga., Taylor Posey, of Milton, Ga., and Connor Pittman, of Lawrenceville, Ga.
Judged by Greg Shelnutt of Clemson University, the virtual exhibition, open to all students from the PBC鈥檚 eight schools, featured 65 pieces that included ceramics, digital art, drawing, installation, painting, printmaking, public art and sculpture.聽
Earlier in the semester, 杏吧原创鈥檚 Campus Gate Art Gallery hosted the annual Student Juried Art Exhibition that features artwork by 杏吧原创 students. The highly anticipated annual exhibition was open to all 杏吧原创 students and showcased talent across many artistic mediums.
Recent art graduate Connor Pittman, of Lawrenceville, Ga., was awarded Best of Show for his wood and steel piece 鈥淐ochlear.鈥 Junior art major Yolanda Evans, of East Point, Ga., was awarded second place for her sculpture 鈥淯ntitled.鈥 Junior art major Tori Waldroup, of Nicholson, Ga., was awarded third place for her piece 鈥淐ome and Get Your Supper.鈥
Recent art graduates Maggie Morales of Marietta, Ga., and Katelyn Jett, of Carlton, Ga., junior music major Melanie Ellis, of Hawkinsville, Ga., sophomore art major Madison Rannals, of Sugar Hill, Ga., and freshman art major Ashley Pontrelli, of Cumming, Ga., received honorable mentions for their pieces.
