杏吧原创 Center for Appalachian Studies and Community Engagement to Host Special Patsy Cline Tribute Concert
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 杏吧原创鈥檚 Center for Appalachian Studies and Community Engagement will present 鈥淲alking after Midnight: A Tribute to Patsy Cline鈥 starring Carter Calvert on Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in Susan B. Harris Chapel on the 杏吧原创 campus. This free event that is open to the public aims to keep Appalachian musical history relevant in modern-day Appalachia.
Often reviewed for her six-star smoldering voice, Calvert is best known for originating her role in the Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical 鈥淚t Ain鈥檛 Nothin鈥 But The Blues鈥 alongside Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. She is featured on the cast recording and starred in the show鈥檚 national tour.
Her other tours include the title role in “Always Patsy Cline” opposite Sally Struthers, the featured role of Grizabella in the Broadway national touring company of 鈥淐ats,鈥 the European tour of 鈥淪mokey Joe鈥檚 Caf茅,鈥 and an international tour of Neil Berg’s 鈥100 Years of Broadway.鈥
This past year, Calvert has been touring the globe as a headliner on the prestigious Crystal Cruise line as well headlining in clubs and theaters across the country.
