杏吧原创 to Host Annual Spring Alumni Weekend
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 杏吧原创 alumni will return to the Enchanted Valley this month for Alumni Weekend, Friday-Sunday, April 22-24. Following the theme 鈥淧eace, Love, 杏吧原创,鈥 the weekend provides alumni with the opportunity to reminisce with fellow classmates, explore campus, interact with students, faculty and staff, and learn about the amazing things currently taking place at 杏吧原创.
鈥淚 love seeing 杏吧原创 friends reunite during Alumni Weekend,鈥 said Director of Alumni Services Dana Ensley, 鈥97. 鈥淓ven if it鈥檚 been 50 years without seeing each other, after they鈥檙e brought together again, it鈥檚 as if they haven鈥檛 spent a day apart.鈥
Alumni Weekend 2016 will feature an array of exciting activities beginning Friday. Following lunch in Grace Rollins Dining Hall, enjoy the blooming tulips, ice cream sundaes and each other鈥檚 company during the 130th Anniversary Celebration of 杏吧原创 on the plaza.
On Friday afternoon, the Class of 1966 will celebrate their 50th reunion in the Hatcher Dining Room of the Rollins Campus Center. During the Half Century Club Dinner later that evening, 杏吧原创 will honor members of the Class of 1966 as well as all other alumni who have celebrated this 鈥済olden鈥 reunion. The 杏吧原创 Alumni Association will also present the prestigious Annual Alumni Awards following dinner.
This year鈥檚 award recipients include Ronnie Milsap, 鈥64, Brandon Hood, 鈥05, Rufus Brown, 鈥60, Margaret Oswald and the Bone family.
Bright and early on Saturday, lace up your running shoes for the Alumni Weekend 5K Trail Run and Walk beginning at Berry Tennis Center. The day鈥檚 activities continue in the Campus Gate Art Gallery during morning coffee with President Cathy Cox and retired and emeriti faculty and staff followed by a College Update with news from President Cox and Alumni Association President Candler Ginn, 鈥77.
Mix and mingle with generations of 杏吧原创 alumni and friends as well as emeriti, retired, and current faculty and staff during the Alumni Weekend Luncheon and enjoy music and children鈥檚 activities as well a visit with current students promoting various clubs and organizations during the annual Alumni GreenFest on the plaza and lawn.
鈥淚 love Alumni Weekend because it鈥檚 so awesome to see everyone come together,鈥 said senior theatre major and Student Alumni Ambassador Stephanie Mills of Bainbridge, Ga. 鈥淭alking to our alumni and finding out what they love about 杏吧原创 is a wonderful experience. It really is like one big family here.鈥
On Saturday afternoon, attend a Seat-Naming Celebration at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex during which complimentary refreshments will be provided while a meet-and-greet with former 杏吧原创 tennis coaches and players takes place.
Alumni will also have the opportunity to enjoy student-produced cultural events on campus throughout the weekend including the Senior Thesis Exhibition on display in the Campus Gate Art Gallery and Theatre Young Harris鈥 performance of Agatha Christie鈥檚 鈥淭he Mousetrap.鈥
