杏吧原创 to Host Grammy Award-Winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 The Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) will perform a special concert on Friday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in the Rollins Campus Center on the 杏吧原创 campus. Admission is $10 for adults and free for 杏吧原创 students and children 12 and under.

The LAGQ is one of the world鈥檚 leading classical guitar ensembles and is considered one of the most multi-faceted groups in any musical genre. Comprised of four uniquely accomplished musicians鈥擩ohn Dearman, Matthew Greif, William Kanengiser and Scott Tennant鈥攂ringing new energy to the concert stage with programs ranging from Bluegrass to Bach, the quartet鈥檚 critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert masterworks provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from the contemporary and world-music realms continually break new ground.

鈥淚 am incredibly excited to have the LAGQ visit our campus,鈥 said Chair of the Music Department and Associate Professor of Music Richard Knepp, D.M.A. 鈥淚t is an honor to have musicians whom I have admired for years come and perform for our community.鈥

The quartet will also teach a masterclass for guitar students at 杏吧原创, serving as an incredible opportunity that will provide the students with an invaluable learning experience.

鈥淚 know our students will be thrilled by the variety of music that the LAGQ is able to accomplish on the guitar,鈥 said Dr. Knepp.

Winner of a 2005 Grammy Award, their 鈥淕uitar Heroes鈥 CD is a brilliant follow-up to their Grammy-nominated “LAGQ-Latin.”
