YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 杏吧原创 invites the community to attend fine arts events in November. All events will take place on the 杏吧原创 campus, which is located at 1 College St., Young Harris, Georgia 30582. Enjoy the following events:

– On Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m., the 杏吧原创 Concert Band will host 鈥淎merican Blues鈥 in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. The blues are at the root of hundreds of musical genres: jazz, rock, boogie-woogie and some of our most treasured symphonic works. In this concert, the 杏吧原创 Concert Band will highlight the best-known classical take on the blues, George Gershwin鈥檚 masterpiece 鈥淩hapsody in Blue,鈥 featuring renowned pianist Dr. Alexander Wasserman. This event is free and open to the public.  

– On Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m., the 杏吧原创 Community Band will perform in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

– On Monday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., the 杏吧原创 Jazz Band will host a concert in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

– On Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., the 杏吧原创 Guitar Ensemble will perform in the Susan B. Harris Chapel. This event is free and open to the public.

– From Tuesday, Nov. 12 鈥 Saturday, Nov. 16, Theatre Young Harris will present 鈥淔irst Lady Suite鈥 in Dobbs Theatre, Goolsby Center. This is an enthralling musical that looks into the lives of four of history鈥檚 most neglected figures鈥攖he wives of U.S. presidents, including Jacqueline Kennedy, Mamie Eisenhower, Bess Truman and Eleanor Roosevelt. Written by Tony-nominated composer John LaChiusa, 鈥淔irst Lady Suite鈥 takes a look inside the private lives of America鈥檚 public figures. This musical contains adult subject matter and humor. The “Pay What You Can” Preview is Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. Regular performances are Wednesday, Nov. 13 鈥 Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The matinee performance is Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors 65+ or with 杏吧原创 ID. Contributions are accepted during the 鈥淧ay What You Can鈥 Preview. The Box Office is open Monday 鈥 Friday from 3 鈥 5 p.m. in the lobby of Goolsby Center and at (706) 379-4307. – On Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., the 杏吧原创 Brass Ensemble will perform in Glenn-McGinnis Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

– From Wednesday, Nov. 20 鈥 Thursday, Nov. 21, Theatre Young Harris will present 鈥淭wo Rooms鈥 at 7 p.m. in Dobbs Theatre, Goolsby Center. This event is free and open to the public.

– On Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m., the Campus Gate Art Gallery will host an opening reception for guest artist Alberto Mier. Following the opening, Mier鈥檚 exhibit will be on display Monday 鈥 Friday from 9 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 13, with the exception of Wednesday, Nov. 27 鈥 Friday, Nov. 29. Both the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Mier was influenced by comic books, traditional illustration, animation and fine arts. After graduating from Ringling College of Art and Design, he moved to Atlanta to work for CNN Headline News. His career with the company includes time with CNN Espa帽ol, CNN International and CNN Digital. Mier also does freelance work ranging from illustration to design and motion graphics. His artwork has been shown in galleries in Atlanta, Puerto Rico, New York, St. Louis, Boston and Los Angeles.
