杏吧原创 Students Inducted Into Theta Alpha Kappa National Honor Society

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 The Department of Religion and Philosophy at 杏吧原创 recently inducted its first cohort of students into the Alpha Lambda Sigma chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa national honor society. A small ceremony was held in the Susan B. Harris Chapel on the 杏吧原创 campus on Feb 21.

Theta Alpha Kappa is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing academic excellence in baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate students and in scholars in the fields of religious studies and theology. Inductees must have a 3.5 grade point average in religious studies courses and a 3.0 overall grade point average.

Inductees included senior religious studies majors Seth Black, of Beaufort, S.C., and Jakob Elliot, of Hayesville, N.C., senior psychology majors Morgan Clark, of McCayesville, Ga., Cody Mashburn, of East Ellijay, Ga., and Sara Freeman, of Canon, Ga., senior history major Anderson Moss, of Warner Robbins, Ga., senior biology major Samantha Jones, of Rome, Ga., junior history major Courtney Huskins, of Acworth, Ga., junior theatre major Hannah Johnson, of Marietta, Ga., junior religious studies major Trey Rogers, of Hayesville, N.C., and junior communication studies major Allie Weldon, of Athens, Ga.

鈥淲e are proud of this group of excellent religious studies student-scholars,鈥 said Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies and Department Chair Dr. Eric Dickman. 鈥淲e are happy to recognize their achievements with this honors award.鈥

The mission of the religious studies program is to prepare students for activist and service professions or for pursuit of advanced degrees in the human sciences by educating them in religious literacy, respect for cultural diversity, ethical awareness and critical interpretive skills.

Twelve 杏吧原创 students were recently inducted as the first cohort of students into the Alpha Lambda Sigma chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa national honor society during a special ceremony held on the 杏吧原创 campus.聽
