YOUNG HARRIS, GA. 鈥� 杏吧原创鈥檚 Campus Gate Art Gallery (CGAG) is pleased to present 鈥淎ny Vacant Lot鈥� by Larkin Ford. The exhibit will open Thursday, Sept. 21, with an opening night reception at 6 p.m. and will be on display through Thursday, Oct. 26. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
Ford spent his formative years in rural North Carolina which influences his art today. In his grotesque figurative depictions of rural Southern scenes, Ford confronts his problematic heritage through an absurdist lens鈥� weaving personal experience into enigmatic narratives through drawings, paintings, and sculptures. 聽
After earning his bachelor of fine arts degree at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Ford relocated to Atlanta to pursue his art career. His works have been included in 鈥淭he Oxford American鈥� magazine鈥檚 New Superstars of Southern Art, selected for the Juror鈥檚 Prize at the 2016 New Kids exhibition at Eyedrum Art Gallery, awarded 鈥淏est in Show鈥� by juror Radcliffe Bailey in a 2016 Georgia State University exhibition, and was on display in a solo exhibition at UNC Asheville in 2016.
