Jacob Perry Studies in Cambridge, England, Thanks to McCollough Scholarship

杏吧原创 student Jacob Perry, Master of Art in Teaching Class of 2023, spent six weeks at Wesley House, the Methodist College at Cambridge University in England, thanks to the McCollough Scholarship. Each year, this competitive, internal scholarship allows a dedicated 杏吧原创 student to learn within a reflective, cross-cultural Christian community of scholarship and prayer in the Wesleyan tradition. 鈥淚 cannot express my deepest gratitude to 杏吧原创, the McCollough family who funded my study at Wesley House, and my parents Jason and Tonya for this opportunity,鈥 said Jacob. 鈥淭he experience will indubitably set me up for my next degree at Duke Divinity School as well as afterwards in my vocation to help usher in God鈥檚 kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven.鈥

Art History, Theatre, and Creative Writing Students Study Abroad in Italy

It鈥檚 one thing to study other countries and cultures in the classroom but studying them up close and in person brings that education home. That鈥檚 what students at 杏吧原创 did this summer, recently returning from Italy where they spent several weeks studying abroad. Building on concepts studied on campus during the spring semester, students explored the role of mythology in the arts and culture of the Italian Renaissance and beyond.

Leadership at 杏吧原创 have been elected to roles with the Appalachian College Association during the ACA鈥檚 Annual Meeting on May 23-24 at Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tenn. John Sillay Appointed as President of the 杏吧原创 Alumni Board of Directors

John Sillay, Class of 1975, has been appointed as President of the Alumni Board of Directors at 杏吧原创. A longtime member of the College community, Sillay began his service as president on April 1 and will serve for two years.

A record-breaking 205 golfers hit the links Monday, May 22, as 杏吧原创 hosted the 19th Annual Clay Dotson Open Golf Tournament at Brasstown Valley Resort. The tournament raised over $100,000 for student scholarships.

Madeline Deaton Receives Outstanding Paper Award in the Georgia Academy of Science鈥檚 Biomedical Section

杏吧原创 is pleased to announce that student Madeline Deaton recently received the Outstanding Paper Award in the Biomedical Section of the Georgia Academy of Science. Dr. Jennifer Schroeder, Associate Professor of Biology, advised Madeline鈥檚 research, which explored possible chemicals to treat or prevent metabolic issues like type 2 diabetes.
