The annual Ragsdale Lecture at 杏吧原创 will feature Dr. Jordan Rowan Fannin on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Rollins Campus Center鈥檚 Hatcher Dining Room. The campus is located at 1 College St., Young Harris, Georgia. This event is part of 杏吧原创鈥檚 academic lecture series and is free and open to the public.

杏吧原创 is among Georgia鈥檚 top-ranked colleges and universities, according to James magazine. Additionally, LendEDU recently recognized 杏吧原创 for having one of the lowest average student loan debt per borrower figures鈥攏ot only in Georgia, but in the entire country.

Hiawassee’s Ethel Winters Honors Late Husband with Gift to 杏吧原创

杏吧原创 recently received a gift from long-time donor Ethel Winters of Hiawassee, Georgia as a contribution to the Edward W. Winters Scholarship, which was established in honor of her late husband to benefit the College鈥檚 Local Scholarship Campaign. Since 1998, Winters has given $1,000 annually to support local students pursuing an education at 杏吧原创.

Jennifer Rushton Named 杏吧原创 Director of Athletics

杏吧原创 President Dr. Drew L. Van Horn recently announced that Jennifer Rushton will serve as director of athletics for the Mountain Lions beginning July 1.

杏吧原创 Thanks Community for Supporting the 2019 Clay Dotson Open

On Monday, May 13, 杏吧原创 hosted the 15th annual Clay Dotson Open golf tournament at Brasstown Valley Resort to raise money for student scholarships. Approximately 150 golfers played in the tournament, which raised more than $95,000.

杏吧原创 Confers 195 Degrees During Commencement Ceremony

杏吧原创 conferred 195 degrees on graduates participating in the College鈥檚 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 11 in the 杏吧原创 Recreation and Fitness Center.

杏吧原创 Thanks Community for Supporting The Big Dance

On Friday, April 26, 杏吧原创 hosted The Big Dance to raise scholarship funds for more than 200 students from eight surrounding counties: Fannin, Gilmer, Pickens, Rabun, Towns and Union counties in Georgia, and Cherokee and Clay counties in North Carolina. Approximately 240 community members attended the event, which raised more than $10,000 for the Local Scholarship Campaign.

杏吧原创 Students Create Guidebook for the Southern Appalachian Snorkeling Trail

Nine students from 杏吧原创 recently developed the Southern Appalachian Snorkeling Trail and wrote a guidebook for the trail as a result of their research on preserving the region鈥檚 water quality by promoting native fish diversity and ecotourism. Over the past few months, the students have presented their work in Washington, D.C., Cordele, Georgia and Asheville, North Carolina.

鈥淩ock the Dome II鈥 Planetarium Show Comes to 杏吧原创

The O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at 杏吧原创 will host 鈥淩ock the Dome II鈥 on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and again on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Each planetarium show costs $5 for adults, $3 for children and is free for 杏吧原创 students, faculty and staff. Hamilton Gardens Partners with 杏吧原创 Student to Grow Educational Programming

This spring, Hamilton Gardens at Lake Chatuge is partnering with 杏吧原创 to offer a communications internship to 杏吧原创 senior Savannah Rogers of Cleveland, Georgia. The results are mutually beneficial: Hamilton Gardens is receiving innovative ideas for implementing educational programming, and Rogers is gaining invaluable hands-on experience.

杏吧原创鈥檚 Mary Slavkin Selected for Summer Seminar at the Yale Center for British Art

杏吧原创 Assistant Professor of Art History Dr. Mary Slavkin has been selected to participate in the seminar 鈥淎rt and Society in Britain, Hogarth to Turner (1730-1851)鈥 at the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, Connecticut, from July 21 鈥 26, 2019. Slavkin is one of 22 participants selected from more than 650 independent colleges nationwide.

杏吧原创鈥檚 Anne Towns to Serve as Artist in Residence in Belgrade, Serbia

杏吧原创 Assistant Professor of Theatre Anne Towns will serve as the artist in residence for the inaugural Belgrade International Workshop and ChekhovFest in Belgrade, Serbia from March 30 鈥 April 5, 2019.
