杏吧原创 Hosts the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police District 9 Meeting

杏吧原创 recently hosted the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) District 9 Meeting. District 9 includes 24 counties throughout North Georgia. Chiefs of police, officers and executives from law enforcement agencies across District 9 attended the meeting for training purposes and to discuss other GACP business.

Randy Dunn Accepts New Role at 杏吧原创

杏吧原创 Director of Athletics Randy Dunn will be resigning his position Feb. 1 and accepting a new role at 杏吧原创 as the director of athletics fundraising.

杏吧原创 Campus Gate Art Gallery Opens New Exhibit

The Campus Gate Art Gallery (CGAG) at 杏吧原创 is pleased to present the works of Karen Schwartz. The exhibit will open Thursday, Jan. 24 with a reception at 6 p.m. Schwartz鈥檚 exhibit will be on display through Friday, Mar. 1 during regular gallery hours (Monday 鈥 Friday from 9 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m.). The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

杏吧原创 High School Honor Band Clinic Offers Three Free Concerts

As part of the upcoming 杏吧原创 High School Honor Band Clinic, 杏吧原创 will host three concerts that are free and open to the public. The first is a guest concert by the Ringgold High School Wind Symphony on Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 19, the 杏吧原创 Concert Band and Brass Choir will perform at 12:30 p.m. and the 杏吧原创 High School Honor Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. All three concerts will take place in Glenn~McGinnis Hall on the 杏吧原创 campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582.

New Planetarium Show Comes to 杏吧原创

杏吧原创 will host 鈥淧hantom of the Universe鈥 at the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, Friday, Jan. 25, Friday, Feb. 15 and Friday, Feb. 22. The planetarium is housed in the Maxwell Center for Mathematics and Sciences on the 杏吧原创 campus, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582. Each planetarium show costs $5 for adults, $3 for children and is free for 杏吧原创 students, faculty and staff. All shows are open to the public.

杏吧原创 Names 2019 Woodward Scholar

杏吧原创 junior Hannah Walker of Cumming, Ga., was recently awarded the Beverly Barrow Woodward, 鈥53, Endowed Scholarship, established by Leonard and Beverly Woodward of Rome, Ga., and granted annually to one 杏吧原创 student to study abroad in England at Harlaxton College.

杏吧原创 Athletics Hall of Fame Inducts New Members

鈥淎 Weekend in the Enchanted Valley鈥 Proved Successful for 杏吧原创

杏吧原创 recently hosted hundreds of alumni, guests and friends for 鈥淎 Weekend in the Enchanted Valley.鈥 Weekend highlights included a scholarship luncheon, the 杏吧原创 Athletics Hall of Fame dinner, the 1886 Young Harris Society reception and an all-alumni collegiate tailgate party.

杏吧原创 Students Excel at Singing Competition

Several students from the 杏吧原创 music and musical theatre programs traveled to Rome, Ga., along with their teachers to compete in the National Association of Teachers of Singing student auditions. The event, which included singers from all over the state of Georgia, took place Nov. 2-3 on the campus of Shorter University.

杏吧原创 Students Participate in The Daffodil Project

Students at 杏吧原创 recently planted 200 daffodil bulbs on the 杏吧原创 campus as part of The Daffodil Project. This initiative was developed by Am Yisrael Chai, a nonprofit Holocaust education and awareness organization.

杏吧原创 Presents 鈥淐hristmas at 杏吧原创鈥

杏吧原创鈥檚 Department of Music invites you to attend its annual 鈥淐hristmas at 杏吧原创鈥 concert on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. in Glenn~McGinnis Hall on the 杏吧原创 campus. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under. 杏吧原创 students, faculty and staff can attend for free. Tickets will be available at the door.

Undefeated 杏吧原创 Men鈥檚 Soccer Team Advances to NCAA Division II Region Tournament

On Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., the undefeated 杏吧原创 men鈥檚 soccer team will compete in the NCAA Division II Region Tournament. The Mountain Lions will play on their home field at 杏吧原创, which is located at 1 College Street, Young Harris, Ga. 30582. The game is open to the public, and tickets cost $8 for adults, $3 for students with a 杏吧原创 ID and seniors (62 and older) and $1 for children (ages 2-12).

杏吧原创 Presents November Fine Arts Events

杏吧原创 invites the community to attend several fine arts events this November. Events include the Percussion Ensemble concert, the Theatre Mainstage performance of Blithe Spirit, the Group Ceramics Art Exhibition, and concerts by the Concert Band, the Community Band, the Jazz Band and the Guitar Ensemble. These events are open to the public and will be held on the 杏吧原创 campus.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization Recognizes Support from 杏吧原创

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina presented a $2,000 donation to 杏吧原创鈥檚 tennis program to express appreciation for 杏吧原创鈥檚 support of the Georgia Mountain Tennis Championships. Since 2010, 杏吧原创 has donated the use of its tennis facility for the annual tournament. The tournament raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina, and this past year, $9,000 was raised for the organization.

杏吧原创鈥檚 Annual Fall Fest is Oct. 25

杏吧原创 will host its annual Fall Fest on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6-8 p.m.

杏吧原创 to Host Renowned Scientist and Author Sean B. Carroll

杏吧原创 will host award-winning scientist, author, educator and film producer Sean B. Carroll to present his book, 鈥淭he Serengeti Rules,鈥 on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. in Glenn-McGinnis Hall on the 杏吧原创 campus. The event is open to the public and free to attend. In preparation for the presentation, the 杏吧原创 Academic Success Center will show the film version of 鈥淭he Serengeti Rules鈥 on the Campus Green on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

Rollins Planetarium Presents 鈥淭he Ooky Spooky Light Show鈥

杏吧原创鈥檚 O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium will present 鈥淭he Ooky Spooky Light Show鈥 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 and Friday, Oct. 26.

David Bottoms and Kelly J. Beard to Deliver 杏吧原创鈥檚 Annual Sellers Lecture

On Thursday, Oct. 4, David Bottoms and Kelly J. Beard will read for the annual Sellers Lecture at 7 p.m. in Hatcher Dining Room in the Rollins Campus Center at 杏吧原创. This event is free and open to the public.

杏吧原创 is pleased to announce several upcoming fine arts events, including the Cheryl Goldsleger and Larry Millard Art Exhibit, the Concert Band Senior Showcase, the Mu Phi Epsilon Member Recital and the Fall Choral Concert. These events are open to the public and free to attend.
